World Down Syndrome Awareness Day On March 21 – Wear Mismatched Socks

Remember to break out your mismatched socks this Thursday, March 21 – when RHPS recognizes World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.  Why do we wear mismatched socks?  Check out the website links below to learn why!

I would encourage our Rams’ community to check out the Canadian Down Syndrome Society or the World Down Syndrome Day website.

The website encourages people to remember that Down Syndrome does not define the person.  We should not identify people first by their disability and we need to reconsider our thinking.  For example, people “have” Down Syndrome but they do not “suffer” from it; nor are they “afflicted” by it.  Check out the website links above to reshape our thinking!
