World Down Syndrome Awareness Day is THIS Friday, March 21

We ask all members of our RHPS community to wear mismatched socks this Friday, March 21.  Why?  RHPS recognizes World Down Syndrome Awareness Day and one way for people to recognize the day on a personal level is to wear mismatched socks.  Chromosomes are shaped “like socks” and people with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome (chromosome “21” – which is why the day is recognized on March 21).

I would encourage members of the RHPS community to visit the World Down Syndrome Day website to learn about Down Syndrome.

I would further encourage people to watch the video “Chromosomes R Us” from the World Down Syndrome Day website which does a wonderful job discussing Down Syndrome.

Show your recognition of the day, Rams! Break out the mismatched socks!  Do you have outdoor lights?  If you can, use blue and yellow bulbs which have become the light up colour scheme for buildings around the world to recognize this day.

TLDSB school and transportation status update – April 3, 2025

We are pleased to share that most TLDSB schools and child care centres within schools will be open tomorrow, Thursday, April 3. See the list below for schools that will remain closed due to infrastructure and/or power outages. If your child(ren)’s school is not listed, it is open.

Transportation information

Transportation is running in Zones, 1, 2, and 3, but there may be disruptions to individual routes. Parents/guardians are encouraged to sign up for notifications via mybustoschool.ca and check for individual route delays and modifications.

Transportation is not running in Zones 4 and 5. The reason for this difference is because the communications tower that provides services to the bus company is out of commission. Therefore, transportation is not possible until the communications have been restored.
