Letter from the Chair of the Board and Director of Education to TLDSB families: return to school

Welcome back to all of our staff and students. We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer.

Over the summer, many of our staff have been preparing to support a smooth and safe transition back to school for all students and staff. We are committed to continuing to keep health and safety a top priority for everyone in our Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) communities as we work toward a sense of pre-pandemic normalcy.

As we move into the 2022-2023 school year, equity, inclusion, and student learning will remain our primary focus, and we will continue to be guided by our 2022-2027 Strategic Plan. As a learning organization, TLDSB is committed to providing relevant and practical professional learning to staff, offering meaningful instruction and evidence-based strategies for students, and ensuring that all students are able to engage in opportunities that will foster success to support their future pathways.

We are aware that many individuals experienced heightened anxiety or other difficulties during the pandemic. All staff, including Trustees, have taken part in either mental health and/or cultural competency training to help us be ready to support our students and one another moving forward. We will continue to offer mental health and well-being learning opportunities and support strategies to staff and students as we work to ensure that TLDSB schools and buildings are safe, caring learning environments.

The 2022-2023 TLDSB Handbook for Parents/Guardians and Students can be found at tldsb.ca on the Parent Resources page. Parents/guardians are asked to review this handbook with their TLDSB students, as it will help students and their families on their journey through school.

We are committed to the work ahead and look forward to serving our students, staff, and communities in the 2022-2023 school year and beyond.
