Student musical presentation
A trio of musicians from I. E. Weldon Secondary School’s Grade 10, 11, and 12 music class gave a performance of A Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen. Thank you to Kyle, Hailey, Darcy for the wonderful renditions of this song.
Elections
The annual election took place for the Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) chair and vice-chair of the Board. Trustee Colleen Wilcox was acclaimed as chair of the Board, and Trustee Esther Childs was re-elected as vice-chair of the Board for 2025. Trustee Wilcox noted how she’s looking forward to another year as chair and spoke about how “the past year has been a great learning experience.” Trustee Bruce Reain continues to hold the position of past chair.
Director’s recognition – CACE Awards
The Canadian Association of Communicators in Education, otherwise known as CACE, recognizes and honours exemplary work in all aspects of marketing and engagement, communications, and school public relations through the BRAVO! Awards Program each year. This is the only Canada-wide awards program specifically designed to recognize excellence in school board communications.
On October 26 at the 2024 BRAVO! Awards Gala, TLDSB was presented with an Award of Distinction for the communications plan conducted for the TLDSB Staff-Wide
Online Silent Auction Fundraiser, and a Coup de Coeur Award for the TLDSB Pride Graphic.

2023-2024 Board Student Achievement Plan and Director’s Annual Report
TLDSB director of education, Wes Hahn, presented trustees with the Board Student Achievement Plan (BSAP) and Director’s Annual Report for the 2023-2024 school year. He noted many highlights from the year, including Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) improvements, early reading successes, Trillium Lakelands Arts Camp and outdoor education, online learning and the Virtual Learning Centre, professional development, Indigenous education, special education, truth and reconciliation work, attendance as a focus, the Feed All Four Fund fundraisers, boundary reviews, and new additions to TLDSB buildings.
